Led by CEO Dennis Archer Jr., Detroit’s Ignition Media Group has recently made changes and added new members to the agency, including President, Bree Kellum, PR Director, Jake Serwer, and Account Manager, Katie Pavlak.
Bree Kellum joined the agency as its new President in April and spearheads the efforts in new business development, in addition to managing the relationships of Ignition’s growing client portfolio. A native Detroiter raised with an especially strong affinity for entrepreneurship in the city of Detroit, Bree is a proud Michigan State Spartan with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising and Public Relations.
As the daughter of an entrepreneur, Bree was exposed to the intricacies of growth strategies for new businesses and the benefits of an impactful communications plan at an early age. With more than 10 years of experience in advertising for large name agencies such as Edelman, GlobalHue and Doner, Bree has led and influenced fully integrated communication programs for brands like Walmart, Cottonelle, Huggies and Cox Communications. Bree is an avid traveler and loves to explore new cultures, fashions, and foods. In her spare time, you can find her at the movies with her husband.
Jake Serwer now leads Ignition’s PR practice as Director of Strategic Communications. Like Bree, Jake is also native to the city of Detroit and joined the agency in August. He earned his BA from the University of Michigan before moving to Washington, D.C. where he lived for more than six years, also earning a Master’s Degree in Sports Business and Strategic Marketing from Georgetown University.
While in D.C., Jake served as a TV Producer for Bloomberg News, covering Congress and the White House. He later leveraged those production skills as the primary communications representative for Chris Wallace, the on-air host of Fox News Sunday, assisting in the production of the weekly Sunday morning show as well as Chris Wallace’s coverage of the 2012 presidential campaign and debates.
Prior to returning to Detroit, Jake was the Business Development Executive of the historic and iconic National Press Club. There, he oversaw marketing and communications for the Club’s business operations as well as operations for its broadcast television studios, producing newsworthy events with Fortune 500 CEOs, presidential candidates, thought-provoking speakers, musicians and celebrity newsmakers, including Roger Daltrey, James Taylor and George Clooney.
Prior to joining Ignition, Jake ran media and business operations for Breakout Detroit, a two-day annual retreat with the mission of bringing in and introducing young entrepreneurs and influencers from all regions of the country to Detroit and introducing them to the places and people making a positive difference in the city.
